I want to make it perfectly clear that I am speaking only for myself as a survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Here are some domestic violence and sexual assault sites to check out:
The casting couch is a euphemism for the practice of soliciting sexual favors from a job applicant in exchange for employment in the entertainment industry, primarily acting roles.
It is also illegal in the United States.Just ask Harvey Weinstien.
The Casting Couch (1923)
Joan Crawford has a small role in this film. From what I have seen from the television limited series “Feud”, Joan herself tried to ride the casting couch during her career. I don’t know if that is really true because the only thing I am familiar with when it came to Joan Crawford is the book her daughter wrote about how crazy she was. People are saying her daughter is lying about the abusive parts of the book, but I have no clue. I never read it.Since then women have been accused of riding the casting couch or sleeping with the right man in order to land a gig or a job for themselves. I don’t condone sleeping around to break through the glass ceiling, I don’t care which sex is the boss and which sex is the employee. You can’t put on your resume that the only reason you got hired for something is because you fucked the right people. Knowing the right people is fine, but sex shouldn’t be involved. I don’t like the thought of sex being used as a weapon. I understand someone using their looks as a weapon, but it’s 2020. A woman should be able to climb the ladder based on her credentials and her hard work by now.If I ever had a boss that told me the only way I could get a promotion is if I sucked his dick or licked her pussy, I’d give in my two weeks notice and complain to their boss’s boss. I don’t care what backlash I’d receive. Call me a slut for sticking up for myself like a grown woman should. I’m not scared.
